New Zealand Booth – Seared Scallop – Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2012

Seared Sea Scallop

Seared Sea Scallop with Kumara Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad

The red curry puree underneath tasted like mashed sweet potato, nothing more.

The seared sea scallop was overcooked and gritty.

When we arrived at the booth, we had to wait for this item. Even though we stood and

South Korea Booth – Mung Bean Pancake with Shrimp and Kimchi Sauce – Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2012

Mung Bean Pancake

Mung Bean Pancake with Shrimp and Kimchi Sauce

After seeing this on Eating WDW, nora was determined to have this (also, we’ve been pleased with offerings from the South Korea booth in the past: Boolgogi BBQ Beef and Lettuce Wrap).

The sauce didn’t seem to be “kimchi” at all, it

Japan Booth – Spicy Hand Roll – Epcot International Food & Wine Festival 2012

Spicy Hand Roll – large enough to share

SPICY HAND ROLL – Tuna and salmon with chili pepper, soy sauce & sesame oil topped with kazan volcano sauce.

The rice was stickier than sushi rice is typically. There was ample filling and the sauce on top tasted okay. Overall, the texture was

Tuna Poke, Hawaii – Epcot 2011 Food & Wine Festival

We really enjoy our sushi, judging most places by the quality of their tuna. We’ve already talked about the Tuna and Salmon Sensation being served at the Japan booth this year. This was excellent quality fish. So how did the Hawaii both do?

Hawaii is serving Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Lotus Root Chips.

Pork Slider, Hawaii – Epcot 2011 Food & Wine Festival

I like pork, especially pulled pork. Thus when I saw the pulled pork slider at the Hawaii booth I knew I had to try it.

Kalua Pork Slider with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney and Spicy Mayonnaise

In a word, yummy. The pork was moist and had just a few red pepper flakes

Greek Salad – Epcot 2011 Food & Wine Festival

A Greek Salad is very easy to make. If you use good quality kalamata olives and feta cheese you can create a very satisfying “mouth feel”. The Greece Kiosk did a nice job with this salad and are using good quality olives and feta. The problem though – it was a tiny portion. On a

Tuna & Salmon Sensation – Epcot 2011 Food & Wine Festival

One issue we have with the Epcot Food & Wine Festival is food choices and weather. It stays very warm in Florida during October, the primary month of the Food & Wine Festival. Most of the food choices are hot items, some even heavy – items that make you think of winter time (like pierogies

Lettuce Wrap – 2011 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

The South Korea booth debuted in 2010 at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. Nora and I enjoyed the food so it was an early stop for the 2011 event. We enjoy Asian food and look forward to trying new things. The South Korea booth brings back the same menu for 2011: Lettuce Wrap

Tastings at Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2009

Visit #2

Went back again tonight. Since we had already scoped things out, we were hoping to enjoy the cooler temperatures with some warmer food (in the past, we thought we hadn’t enjoyed the F&W so much because a lot of the food offerings seem to be “cooler weather foods”). One thing we hadn’t

Tastings at Epcot Food & Wine Festival 2009

Visit #1

We made our first trip over to the F&W tonight. Our hope was to scope out the booths, figure out what looked tasty to us, and perhaps more importantly, what looked like it was getting a decent amount of prep & cooking on site.

We aren’t big evening eaters (as you’ll see
