We really enjoy our sushi, judging most places by the quality of their tuna. We’ve already talked about the Tuna and Salmon Sensation being served at the Japan booth this year. This was excellent quality fish. So how did the Hawaii both do?
Hawaii is servingĀ Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Lotus Root Chips. I’m not sure if lotus root chips are supposed to have flavor. Ours didn’t but it did dress up the sample. Food should appeal to the eye as well as to taste and smell so nice touch on the part of the chef. The tuna was fresh but not as flavorful as that in Japan. Adding the seaweed salad was nice plus. Although we know the seaweed salad is a processed food it has good flavor and the cool crunch was a nice contrast to the soft tuna flesh.
This is a definite try again if we find ourselves at the festival on another hot day. It is not my favorite item so far but it does offer flavors I particularly like.
