Yes, Epcot uses topiary for many events beyond the annual Flower and Garden Show – even at Christmas. At the main entrance to Epcot during the holiday celebration in 2012, you are greeted by Goofy and Donald in front of many evergreens adorned with white lights.
Bambi, Thumper and Flower are within the evergreens…
You do not encounter Mickey and Minnie until you reach the bridge to World Showcase leaving Future World. Yes, they have on their Santa hats.
Pluto is in this topiary display too. However, due to strange lighting, Pluto looks weird in my photo. Sorry about that Pluto…
As you move along the bridge to the World Showcase entrance you reach the primary Christmas tree at Epcot.
There is always much to see at Epcot during Christmas. Because we focused many, many posts on World Showcase in 2010 and revisited it again in 20111, I am not going to delve into all that happens and can be enjoyed here. However I did get three photos in Epcot this Christmas that I wanted to share.
The first is a poinsettia and fern tree in Norway. I just liked the lighting…
Next is a view across World Showcase lagoon with the Christmas tree lit and Spaceship Earth looming large as always.
Finally, I was photographing the Christmas gospel performance stage behind Epcot’s Fountain of Nations and got a lucky shot with the fountain shooting a single lighted stream of water and Spaceship Earth is centered in the frame. Again, sometimes you just get a lucky shot…
As you exit Epcot you find one more surprise in the entrance topiary. Maybe the evergreens were meant to have colored lights too? It seems Stitch is tangled up in a bunch of colored Christmas lights.
And Stitch is not happy either…he has taken a bite out of the sign thanking us for visiting…
Maybe Stitch is related to Scrooge? Or does he just not have the Christmas spirit?
