Today’s entry is the first of a pair (Earl of Sandwich’s marketing idea, not mine… maybe it has to do with Will & Kate?)
The Pastrami Reuben…
The Earl roasts meat every day and this pastrami is definitely not generic “meat” – the flavor is good, there just wasn’t much of it.
The sauerkraut has a LOT of caraway seeds in it, their flavor seemed to overpower the sandwich. The sauerkraut was slightly sweet, personally I prefer sauerkraut with more tanginess and bite. Also, the sauerkraut was tough and chewy… Not crispy at all.
The cheese and the Thousand Island dressing weren’t distinct at all, they didn’t really contribute to the sandwich.
The bread is incredible this time, toasted yet soft. If only it was exactly like this every time 🙂
This sandwich was slightly disappointing. I’d like more meat, crispier sauerkraut, and far fewer caraway seeds.
Left in the #2013eateachsandwich challenge …
- The Caprese
- The Avocado BLT
