#2013eateachsandwich challenge – wrapping it up

Well, I did it! I ate every sandwich at Earl of Sandwich this year…

The Just4Kids sandwiches were pretty simple – my favorite was the pizza sandwich … because I REALLY like the marinara sauce at Earl of Sandwich

Then there were the seasonal specialities – my favorite remains the Holiday Turkey with the Avocado BLT coming in a close second (sorry that blog post has disappeared into nothingness, I hope to recreate it sometime soon)

The other seasonal specials:

  • The Cuban (nothing spectacular, but maybe I should have ordered it again?)
  • BBQ Pork (didn’t care for the sauce, personal preference for not so sweet sauce)
  • Chicken Pesto Pomodoro (basil… need I say more? I did like the pesto though)
  • Pastrami Reuben (needed more sauerkraut and less caraway seeds)
  • Holiday Ham (again, just too sweet)

There are a few breakfast sandwiches to choose from, at some point during the year (when I was trying to lose weight), I stepped away from eating the big full-sized sandwiches to my own version of the Ham & Swiss breakfast sandwich – Ham & Swiss, no sauce, add egg (very tasty & I didn’t really get tired of it – even though there were a few weeks when I ate it 3x a week!).

Breakfast sandwiches (note: there was a lot of inconsistency in the preparation of breakfast sandwiches… sometimes the ingredients would be well distributed and sometimes they’d just be clumped onto the bread):

Now, on to the sandwiches that were on the permanent menu for 2013…

Chicken sandwiches – my favorite was the Jerk Chicken (another blog post that evaporated into nothingness) – I liked the tangy vinegar flavors combined with the other elements of this sandwich. Now that the #2013eateachsandwich challenge is over, this will go into my sandwich rotation for sure

Other Chicken Sandwiches:

  • Hawaiian BBQ (the first sandwich in my challenge, not a favorite of mine because of the sweet BBQ sauce, Sandy definitely enjoyed it)
  • Chipotle Chicken Avocado (potentially a very good sandwich, I think the execution on mine was a bit off; I need to give it another try)

Lastly, there’s the category I like to call “Standard Sandwiches” – there are a few favorites in this category

And lastly, the two standard sandwiches that I won’t be eating again…

  • The Caprese (just not my speed)
  • The Tuna Melt (just too goopy and WAY TOO MUCH fat in all that mayonnaise – another blog post that disappeared)
