The Yacht Club breaks with the whole gingerbread display concept seen at a lot of the other deluxe resorts (although, it’s worth noting that the Polynesian does very little to get all dolled up for Christmas)… I’m not sure if you’d call the Yacht Club’s display a train set or not, it’s a rather elaborate tableau celebrating winter, the holidays, and Mickey Mouse. It changes from year to year, that’s one of the things that I like about it… old favorites are likely to stay and things that aren’t so interesting are likely to be replaced 🙂
here you can see how large this display is… there are little scenes all around and up and down
from one end… the entrance to Captain’s Grille is off in the upper left… the entire display is now surrounded by poinsettias and a white picket fence (Disney World seems to be increasing the “no touch zone” around the displays)
snowman water tower … man with a snowblower … children making a snowman … glowing snowman … train
the village square … Christmas tree … water fountain … village church
Santa at the village Christmas tree – the detail in this display is amazing (and MOST of it is to scale)
toy store … Marceline’s candy store … trees trimmed with large peppermints
a family is camping near the train tracks in the pine forest
Mickey Mouse is making his own, personalized snowmen (notice the sign for Ship Shape? that’s the workout facility at the Yacht Club)
Donald’s Toys (store) … elves sledding … more snowman building … Donald enjoying the swing set
Santa & reindeer in an alcove with two children
here you can see the elves standing outside
this little tableau is part of a “Main Street Station” larger tableau
I loved these street lights and the little metal seats (the seats remind me of the ones my grandparents had on their front porch, minus the Mickey heads!)
this was the best photo we got of the children riding polar bears
Mickey’s Village – details details details
that is one big vat of Hot Chocolate … and Minnie’s Bakery looks enticing too
