SPICY HAND ROLL – Tuna and salmon with chili pepper, soy sauce & sesame oil topped with kazan volcano sauce.
The rice was stickier than sushi rice is typically. There was ample filling and the sauce on top tasted okay. Overall, the texture was lacking.
Our biggest gripe is with the filling. We know that spicy tuna rolls usually contain chopped tuna with chili sauce of some sort… this contained minced tuna and salmon and the chili sauce could be described as “heat only no chile flavor.” We also know that it’s common to use less prime cuts of fish in rolls that contain chopped mixtures, and that’s fine – we don’t expect premium sushi-grade tuna in a spicy roll… but this stuff was just pretty doggoned gross.
Please understand, we aren’t knocking the Japan pavilion or their Food & Wine Kiosk, usually there’s at least one, if not two items that we really enjoy. Guess we’ll have to go back and try the Sukiyaki Beef Pan (rib eye sandwich).
On a scale of 1-10 (1=never ever again and 10=gotta have this 2 or 3 more times) – nora gives it a 1 and nick gives it a 1, no doubt about it, don’t want to eat this again.
