Looking back at Fort Wilderness during the Christmas Holidays

We love going over to Fort Wilderness during the Christmas Holidays, it’s been a tradition for us for over five years. It’s not what Walt Disney World does during the holidays that’s so OMG AMAZING… It’s what the guests staying at Fort Wilderness do! The lights! The blow-ups! The handmade things (Cinderella Castle anyone)!

We stayed in a cabin at Fort Wilderness during the Christmas Holidays in 2008. Friends joined us (their cabin was down the road a ways) – and I think I’m correct in saying that it’s a holiday trip that Harry & Sandy, Big Al, and Walter all remember. We rented golf carts and one of the highlights was driving around in our decorated golf carts (yes, I brought garland and lights for the golf carts) and looking at all the stuff that the guests had done.

We bought Christmas lights to put on the railing of our deck (those same lights now decorate Nick’s mom’s deck in NC). That was about the extent of our decorating for the whole year 🙂

I made banana pudding (which took a bit of getting used to for the English, we told them it was like trifle as we were scarfing it down at breakfast… Harry was incredulous that we were eating booze laced pudding for breakfast! We had to clarify that there was no sherry in the banana pudding and Sandy assured him that it was really good!). We had fried chicken and biscuits from Trail’s End. Lovely trip 🙂

We watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach lounging in sun beds.

Anyway, back to the near past (instead of the distant past)… from 2012
