November 15th, 2011 This year we had planned three pairings and this was the last one (Mexico’s Tequila Lunch and Japan’s Food & Sake were the other two). The Food & Beer Pairing at Via Napoli took place on Tuesdays this year and our event was the last one of the Food & Wine Festival.

November 14th, 2011 There are so many ways to enjoy calamari – it is way more than just a fried appetizer! For the 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival, Portugal presented a Calamari Salad with Fennel, Smoked Paprika and Olive Oil.
This was a nice sized portion, especially for the $2.75 price. The calamari was

November 7th, 2011 Okay, the name Bunny Chow drew me in. Purina (pet food company) actually makes a product for rabbits that is called bunny chow. So when I saw the name Bunny Chow, I knew I had to sample this dish. I try not to research food before I try it. Too often I am predisposed to

November 6th, 2011 Feijoada, according to the Brazil Booth menu, is the “Brazil’s national dish”. This what Wikipedia says:
The Brazilian feijoada is prepared with black turtle beans (also white, pinto and red beans), a variety of salted pork and beef products, such as pork trimmings (ears, tail, feet), bacon, smoked pork ribs, and at least two types

November 5th, 2011 It is nice to see a few booths changing menus from year to year. If you attend the Food & Wine Festival annually the food choices can get boring, no really, they can. So when I saw that Brazil added Mahi Mahi, I put it on my must try list. I prefer seafood so I

November 4th, 2011 Until 2009 I never knew I liked chutney. During a visit with Harry and Sandy they encouraged me to try some chutney. Now I am a fan. I always look forward to having the Cheese Plate from the Ireland Booth. Kerrygold cheese and butter, chutney and bit of brown bread. Would you believe my mouth

November 3rd, 2011 Last year, 2010, we thought the Fisherman’s Pie was not as good as 2009. It was still a good dish but the flavors were more muted. The seafood flavors were not as distinct. Plus although it was really hot – the mashed potatoes were not as “firm” as I expected. We were anxious to try

November 1st, 2011 Last year we did two pairings, Japan’s Food & Sake Pairing (here) and Morocco’s Food & Wine Pairing (here). We enjoyed the event in Japan quite a lot, so we’re repeating it this year; and luckily for us, they’ve changed the menu and the presentation a bit. This was our second of three such pairings

October 31st, 2011 We first tasted Unibroue beer the last time we ate at Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion. This was at least 3 years ago. We have never really understood all the hoopla surrounding this restaurant. It is ok but it does not deserve all the hype it gets on WDW fan sites and blogs. So

October 30th, 2011 We really enjoy our sushi, judging most places by the quality of their tuna. We’ve already talked about the Tuna and Salmon Sensation being served at the Japan booth this year. This was excellent quality fish. So how did the Hawaii both do?
Hawaii is serving Tuna Poke with Seaweed Salad and Lotus Root Chips.
