Last year, 2010, we thought the Fisherman’s Pie was not as good as 2009. It was still a good dish but the flavors were more muted. The seafood flavors were not as distinct. Plus although it was really hot – the mashed potatoes were not as “firm” as I expected. We were anxious to try it again during the 2011 Epcot Food & Wine Festival.
What a boring photo?! Hey, you can’t make Fisherman’s Pie look appetizing. We even tried photos after we had dug in and still nothing to visually excite. However, the lobsters and scallops…yum!
You could skip the mashed potatoes. I am not a lobster fan. Maybe it is too “sweet”? The lobster in this pie was scrumptious. It could make me a fan of lobster. Tender, buttery and a very nice texture. It truly had umami. The scallops were sweet and just firm enough. Plus the pie was full of lobster and scallops. Even at $5.75 this dish is a good value for the amount of seafood we had.
I’d love to have this on a cold day. But since I hate cold, I’ll just enjoy it in the warm Florida sun!
