The last weekend of the Food & Wine Festival coincided with A LOT of stuff going on at Walt Disney World…
- the Wine & Dine Half Marathon (beginning at ESPN Wide World of Sports and ending at Epcot)
- the Festival of the Masters (at Downtown Disney)
- the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic golf tournament (at the Magnolia Golf Course)
- the first weekend of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (at Magic Kingdom)
- the first weekend of Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (at Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
Seems the only theme park without something special going on was Animal Kingdom…
We’re a bit puzzled as to WHY Walt Disney World would have so much going on at once, wouldn’t it be better for revenues and attendance to spread these out a bit more?
Regardless, we spent time at the Festival of the Masters and at Epcot on Saturday. The traffic and the crowds were pretty crazy, as we walked in to Epcot we got some shots of the parking – we’ve been at WDW during Easter and during the Christmas holidays, we’ve never seen anything like this…
- cars were being parked in the driving lanes
- note – the two furtherest parking lots were closed due to the half-marathon
- a corvette with a vanity plate “Rhody 1” – we’re guessing it isn’t Joe Rhode because surely he parks backstage
- there wasn’t anywhere “safe” to walk – it was even worse after dark
- employees were parking on the grassy areas as you walk into Epcot
- employee parking on the right
- it felt as crazy as it looks…
- employee parking on the left
