Katsura Grill in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot has long been a favorite of ours – especially back before we moved to the Lake Buena Vista area… back then, it was pretty much an “always do” when we’d vacation at Walt Disney World. The udon is consistently good and the beer is consistently cold.
One day recently, we were wandering around Epcot and decided that we needed a little something to eat. It had been a while since we’d stopped at Katsura Grill (actually, I don’t think we’ve stopped there since they changed the name to Katsura Grill <uh oh>) and udon noodles sounded like a good option.
The shrimp udon is always good and comforting. The broth is clear and flavorful. The chopped up green garnish mixes in easily. The biggest drawback to this dish is that the breading on the shrimp gets super soggy very quickly (well, it is sitting on top of hot broth!). The udon noodles are nicely chewy. Yes, this is definitely a “do again”…
Nick surprised me with a new side item. This is a rather unassuming styrofoam cup of vegetables (we estimated it to be about 2 cups) was pretty nice once we added soy sauce and one of those packets of spicy sesame seeds. It was really nice to have some vegetables, especially vegetables that aren’t overcooked. I think this would be very good mixed into the udon noodles.
