Thie Epcot Food & Wine Experience took place on October 22, 2014
There was one item at the Japan Marketplace that we really wanted to try. A couple of reasons: one, the early reviews of it were pretty positive and two, it sounded more interesting to us than the Spicy Hand Roll or the Teriyaki Gyoza Bun (we aren’t huge spicy tuna roll fans nor are we fans of teriyaki anything)… What would the remaining item be then?…
When Nick ordered this with the paired sake (KIkusui Ginjo) – the cast member teased him that he couldn’t have it unless he could pronounce the name! How funny! Lucky for me, he managed to say it correctly, and it was worth the effort.
I don’t distinctly remember the seaweed salad. Our notes say that we both liked the ginger rice quite a bit. There was a nice touch of gari mixed into the rice.
Nick was pleased with the overall dish: good colors, good presentation, good flavors and a good pairing with the sake.
If the Chirashizushi finds its way onto the menu at Kubuki Cafe or at Katsura Grill – I’m sure that this won’t be the last time we enjoy it!
