Chicken Satay with Spiced Peanut Sauce and Pickled Vegetables
This wasn’t bad but it was still a bit disappointing.
Nora loves pickled vegetables and she hoped that there would be a small variety… there was a single piece of pickled green pepper (it was tasty). There were two very soft pieces of mango.
The spiced peanut sauce wasn’t spicy by any stretch of the imagination.
The chicken satay had a coating that included black specks. Nora was pretty sure that this was black sesame seeds, regardless, there was a spice or herb on the chicken that was very off-putting to nick (he suspected black pepper). The chicken was moist (to its credit).
We paired this with the Francis Ford Coppola Su Yuen Riesling, the pairing was nothing fantastic or even worth remarking about. We weren’t fond of the Riesling alone and we weren’t fond of the chicken, so the pairing fell flat when the two together didn’t create a “wow”.
Overall, on our scale of 1-10 (1=never ever again and 10=gotta have this 2 or 3 more times), nora gives it a 6 and nick gives it a 4, average is 5/10.
