First, links to our posts for the past week…

  • In honor of both Valentine’s Day and Pancake Day, we took a trip over to the Polynesian Resort and had breakfast, nick had the red velvet pancakes and nora had the Samoan
  • We’ve been enjoying the offerings at Kidani Village and Jambo House (Animal Kingdom Lodge) recently, the food at Sanaa is always a welcome experience (even if it isn’t always perfect)

From around the blogosphere and the twitterverse…

  • Sarah & Matt at EatingWDW
  • Denise at Mousesteps (one of the first Walt Disney World dedicated blogs that nora read, originally focused on walks around WDW)…
    • We had hoped to see the new “Oz The Great and Powerful” playground when we visited Epcot on Monday, but it wasn’t opened yet – however, Denise has photos!

We’re looking forward to the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, new food booths, amazing topiaries to photograph, and a long time favorite of ours… the flower beds around the lagoons…

On Sunday, we noticed that there were stakes with numbers and colored flags around the lagoons - we wondered how long it would take to remove the grass and get the flowers planted

The next day, the grass was gone!

The next day, some of the grass was gone!

The stakes were still there

The stakes were still there as were some lines and markings

So, how do they get the outlines of the design onto the soil?

So, how do they get the outlines of the design onto the soil? (notice the huge flower on the left and the butterfly on the right)

They have LARGE cut-outs that they place in the right place and then they spray paint the outline directly onto the soil - the stakes and flags are still there to help later on

Now, we look forward to seeing them all completed!

One last item from the internet – we watched Monsters Inc right before a trip to WDW (the trip that caused WDW to become an obsession), and we’ve remained fans of the characters and the storyline. There’s a new Monsters movie coming out from Pixar this summer (June 21), “Monsters University” – and nora has found some clips online…

  • Big Screen Animation
    • the first featurette for Monsters University (link)
    • the UK trailer for Monsters University (link)
  • The commercial from the BCS Championship, a spoof on the come-to-our-university commercials so prevalent during football season (youtube link)

That’s it for this week!
