This experience took place on Friday, May 16, 2014<\/em><\/p>\n

As a whole, we’ve been enjoying our visits to Shula’s Steakhouse. I’m sure that’s in no small part due to Joseph and the other staff. Lisa really likes Joseph, so when we began to talk about where to eat on their recent trip to Walt Disney World, Shula’s was definitely on the radar.<\/p>\n

Taking photos in Shula’s Steakhouse at the Dolphin Resort is a real difficulty, the lighting isn’t conducive at all and even using a flashlight to illuminate the table doesn’t help. I’ll apologize in advance for the brevity of this post – when we go out with friends, I make less effort with my notes etc and make sure that I take the time to enjoy the experience. One lesson we’ve learned from Walt Disney World is to enjoy the experience and savor it (or maybe that’s a lesson we’ve simply learned from life!).<\/p>\n

We started with cocktails: Lisa had a gin martini with a twist, Nick and Andy had the First Down, and I had the Perfect Mark.<\/p>\n

I do love a good bourbon and a good bourbon cocktail<\/p><\/div>\n

We left it to Andy to select the bottle of wine to go with our steaks – the Chateau Grey Sack 2009 (Bordeaux, 89 points from Wine Spectator) – we enjoyed this quite a bit, in fact, Nick went out a week or so later and bought a bottle for a friend who particularly likes Bordeaux. The wine had a fruity, berry nose and tasted of dark fruits and some tannins.<\/p>\n

Three of us ordered the Wedge Salad (half portion) and one of us ordered the Caesar Salad – \u00a0all were quite good. I was slightly surprised to find that the wedge salad was as good the second time around as I remembered it being.<\/p>\n

Then it was on to the main meal: steaks (all ordered medium rare), steamed broccoli, grilled asparagus and a loaded baked potato. The sides at Shula’s Steakhouse are definitely sized to share.<\/p>\n

Andy had the Cowboy Ribeye (which he enjoyed greatly)<\/p><\/div>\n

Lisa had the Kansas City steak (and she enjoyed it very much!)<\/p><\/div>\n

Lisa couldn’t finish her steak (too big) so we brought it home along with the broccoli – the next day, it all became a really nice frittata of steak, broccoli, eggs (from our fridge) and mushrooms (also from our fridge). Very very tasty.<\/p>\n

Dessert! We had chocolate souffl\u00e9, now I have to confess that Nick and I have NEVER had chocolate souffl\u00e9 (even though I love all things chocolate)… While this was quite good, I’m afraid that it wasn’t the best chocolate dessert\/pasty we’ve ever had… I don’t think that we’d order it again… We’re more likely to put the calories towards something else<\/p>\n
