This experience took place on March 16, 2014<\/em><\/p>\n

For the first time, we were seated at the outside dining area at Spice Road Table. I’ll agree with those who say it’s a nice spot when the weather is nice (and yes, it’s usually quite nice in March) – there was a slight breeze from the ceiling fans and on this bright sunny day, the views across the World Showcase Lagoon were great. Note, when it’s warm or hot, it’s going to be quite toasty outside (this is Florida!). However, the seats out there are definitely NOT for having a nice relaxing sit down. In fact, the seats are so horrid that I think this may have been both the first and the only time that we sat outside. Our usual table is #13 (our dear departed aunt’s lucky number) in the indoor dining area.<\/p>\n

Nabil (Big Nabil) was our server again (at this point, we’d been visiting Spice Road Table so often and they didn’t have a lot of guests, thus there was a little bit of competition to serve us). We hadn’t ordered the merguez sausage on it’s own and Nabil is very good at making sure we get extra spicy things – thus, we had moroccan lamb sausage with some extra spicy sauce.<\/p>\n

Nabil brought us an orange hot sauce and the harissa ketchup (this is served with the harissa chicken roll) – the harissa ketchup reminded me of eating fried hamburgers growing up and we agreed that it would be great on french fries<\/p><\/div>\n

we were pleasantly surprised that the sausage was not fatty at all! it was also spicier than we remembered from the sampler- Nick really liked this: 1 sausage, 2 spicy, and 3 lamb<\/p><\/div>\n

the portion was a good bit larger than on the sampler, nick even liked the cilantro in the tomato salad<\/p><\/div>\n

The moroccan lamb sausage is paired with Guerrouane Rouge – so I had a glass. It smells like a cross between a cabernet and a pinot noir, without food it tasted quite rich and fruity with some soft tannins (not a lot). It paired quite well with the merguez sausage. At this point we figured out that we’ve tried all of the white wines on the menu and there are only three reds that we haven’t had: Condesa Deleganza (Spain), King of Hearts Red (Greece), and Angora Beyaz (Turkey) [note our blog posts about Spice Road Table aren’t in perfect chronological order].<\/p>\n

The mussels are a better value for the money, compared to the sausage. However, this dish might be a good way to introduce someone to lamb if they’ve never had it.<\/p>\n
