We recently stopped in at the Cabana poolside bar with a large group of friends, you see, we had committed the ultimate WDW visitor error – no planning in advance for food. Luckily, Nick remembered that one of managers from bluezoo had recently moved over to Cabana (and, since the food from Cabana was quite good during the Food & Wine Classic)\u2026 so\u2026 we walked over from Leaping Libations at the Boardwalk and everyone was able to have some dinner…<\/p>\n

Spider Roll with Mustard Sauce – for sharing<\/p><\/div>\n

The spider roll was pretty unremarkable. The soft-shell crab tasted a bit charred and was quite bland to be honest. The rice was mushy not sticky. I don’t think we’ll be rushing to order this again.<\/p>\n

Nora’s choice: Chilled Roasted Pepper Soup & Braised Pork Banh Mi<\/p><\/div>\n

The soup was okay (I should have remembered that if I ate roasted pepper soup that it wouldn’t agree with my tummy). The sandwich was quite good, but a little hard to eat because of the crunchiness of the bread (which I like!) and the volume of the ingredients (which I liked too). I sometimes wonder if sandwiches are created more for looks than for ease of eating – and isn’t the whole purpose of a sandwich “something easy to eat”? We would order this again \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Nick’s Choice: Fish Tacos – Red Cabbage, Siracha, Key Lime Aioli, Roasted Corn, Avocado Relish<\/p><\/div>\n

The relish in the left-hand bowl was very tasty\u2026 Nick said that the tacos were nothing special.<\/p>\n

The best dish of the evening was the braised short rib nachos that Big Al ordered – served on house made potato chips, they were loaded with luscious beef short rib and a nice mix of toppings without any being too plentiful (i.e. the balance was just right).
